The Sharp KMA-5H is a heavy-duty manual bed-type milling machine designed for maximum rigidity and versatility with both vertical and horizontal machining capabilities. The machine is built on high-quality stress-relieved castings with fully ribbed columns, saddle, and table to maintain a rigid structure during heavy cuts. It features hardened and ground box ways on all sliding surfaces that are hand-scraped for full bearing support. The large work table measures 1063 inches by 295 inches with a generous travel of 7875 inches longitudinally and 315 inches in the cross axis. The fixed quill vertical head is driven by a powerful 175 HP motor and an NT 50 taper spindle capable of removing large amounts of metal in one pass. The entire vertical head travels over 27 inches for deep drilling. The horizontal head is equipped with a 75 HP motor and an NT 50 taper spindle and is precisely driven by an AC servo motor on a ball screw, providing high accuracy and efficiency for horizontal milling. The dual spindle design allows for multiple milling operations on a single setup, maintaining accuracy and boosting productivity.
