The AG100L is Sodick’s large-format Sinker EDM machine, representing the pinnacle of the AG series with its large travels of 47-24 inches (1-200 mm) in X, 25-60 inches (650 mm) in Y, and 19-69 inches (500 mm) in Z. The machine is engineered with Sodick’s core, in-house-made technologies, most notably the Linear Motor Drive System. This technology provides a direct link between the drive and control, enabling the fastest servo response possible for maintaining optimal spark gaps.

The use of linear motors and absolute linear scales on all three axes (X, Y, Z) is so reliable that Sodick offers a 10-Year Positioning Accuracy Guarantee. The AG100L is a highly efficient machine, reducing average energy consumption by up to 60 percent compared to conventional EDMs. This is achieved while delivering superior surface quality and speed, thanks to the “Arc-less” No-Arc discharge circuit, which eliminates arcing to reduce cycle time and electrode wear. Additionally, the “SVC” Circuit enables fast and uniform control of surface finish, allowing for high-grade texture or mirror surface finishes in a fraction of the time. The machine also features Ceramic components and the Thermal Commit (TH COM) function to minimize thermal displacement and ensure consistent precision.
