The K4HL is Sodick’s advanced solution in Small Hole EDM technology, developed for applications requiring the drilling of thousands of small, high-precision holes, commonly found in the aerospace, medical, and electronics industries. This machine utilizes 5-axis control and is built with flat rigid linear motor drives on the X, Y, and Z axes, ensuring superior positioning accuracy and long-term reliability- backed by Sodick’s 10-Year Positioning Accuracy Guarantee.

The machine’s ability to run continuously is supported by the standard Automatic Electrode Feeder (AEF) and the optional Automatic Electrode Feeder Changer (AEF-C), which allows for uninterrupted machining of thousands of holes. It also features a programmable W-Axis for electrode guide height. Machining efficiency is maximized with the Penetration Detection Function, which automatically stops the process once a hollow-shaped workpiece, like a turbine blade, is penetrated, eliminating unnecessary feed. The machine also includes a water deionizer system and an LN Assist automatic programming software for simple, interactive program creation. The K4HL is compatible with a variety of materials- from iron and copper to titanium alloys and nickel alloys– thanks to its newly developed SPK power supply that specializes in fine hole machining. It offers extensive travel capacity with an X-Travel of 15.75 inches (400 mm), Y-Travel of 11.81 inches (300 mm), and Z-Travel of 19.69 inches (500 mm), and can handle a Max-Workpiece Weight of 1-102-31 lb (500 kg).
