Its design supports bar diameters from 2 to 26 mm — including reliably feeding small bars in the 2 to 4 mm range thanks to a dedicated loading-assistance and bar-selection system.
Bar stock lengths of 2200, 3200, 3800, or 4200 mm are supported, depending on version, giving flexibility for short or long-run production. The unit uses a lateral magazine loading system with a loading ramp depth of 240 mm, allowing a large number of bars to be prepared at once — and with an optional internal extension, even longer bar-stock batches (for bars 4 to 12 mm) can be accommodated.
The guiding and feeding system is built on a hydrodynamic channel design, ensuring stable and vibration-free bar rotation. For enhanced responsiveness and smooth operation, the Express 220 S2+ employs a servo-driven chain-drive feeding system, combined with a fully automatic hydrostatic front stabilizer to eliminate residual vibration between the feeder and the lathe.
To support modern sliding-headstock lathes, the bar feeder includes the standard “3S” electronic synchronization system, ensuring feed-pusher and spindle remain perfectly coordinated — critical to prevent bar buckling or loss when turning at high speed. The unit supports both fixed-headstock and sliding-headstock CNC lathes.
Operation is simplified via a user-friendly remote control interface — a touch-screen HMI with a built-in library for up to 500 parts, helping minimize setup time when changing jobs. Diameter changes or bar-size changeovers are also designed for efficiency: a partial change (within the same guide channel) can be done in about 2 minutes, and a complete guide-element change takes around 8 minutes.
