The SHARP M24-34 Series Large Swing Lathe is a powerful, high-precision solution for demanding machining operations, particularly in industrial sectors like oil and gas, power utilities, and shipbuilding. It is recognized as a Heavy Duty Large Swing Lathe and a Big Bore lathe, specifically engineered for working with large pipe and heavy valves.

Key to its superior performance is the machine’s construction, featuring a massive one-piece casting machine base that is fully ribbed to prevent distortion even under the heaviest cutting conditions. The extra support needed for handling large, heavy workpieces comes from the oversized 24-inch wide bedways, which are induction hardened and ground for long-lasting accuracy, and an additional third bed way on the front of the bed for extra carriage support.

The headstock is designed for strength and stability, supported by three points- one ball bearing and two tapered roller bearings- for the full length of the forged, chrome alloy steel spindle shaft. The spindle accommodates large workpieces with bore sizes available in 6-inch standard and optional 9, 12, and 15-inch bores. The lathe also offers a wide range of threading capabilities, including 36 types of Inch Threads (2-28 tpi) and Metric Threads (0-8 to 14 mm), via a fully enclosed quick-change gearbox. For handling extra-long and large workpieces, the headstock is capable of accommodating double chucks. The tailstock is equipped with a two-step quill feed for easy infeed, with a motorized quill feed and power drive tailstock available as options on larger models.
