The SHARP 70-inch Extra Large Swing Lathe is designed for the most demanding applications in heavy-duty machining. It delivers a superior performance with its impressive 70-inch swing over the bedways and exceptional distance between centers, ranging from 60 inches to 315 inches, which makes it ideal for extra-long components. The core of this machine’s strength is its massive one-piece casting machine base, which is fully ribbed to prevent distortion and withstand the stresses of heavy cutting. The machine’s oversized 32-inch wide bedways are induction hardened and ground for high precision and exceptional longevity. For added stability, an additional third bed way is provided on the front of the bed to give extra support to the carriage during heavy cuts. The headstock can accommodate a spindle bore of 6 inches as standard, with optional sizes available at 9 inches, 12 inches, and 15 inches, specifically catering to the needs of the oil field and big valve industries for large pipe and shaft work. The spindle is powerfully driven by a 30 HP motor, with larger HP options available, and is supported by one ball bearing and two tapered roller bearings for maximum rigidity and precision. The headstock is also prepared to accommodate double chucks for securely holding extra-long and large-diameter workpieces.
