The Megamill Gantry Milling Machine is a heavy-duty, universal machining center designed for complex and large-scale 5-axis milling. Its fundamental structure is a sturdy welded steel construction that incorporates an innovative thermo-symmetric design and a Z-axis slide with an eightfold bearing in a box-in-box configuration, ensuring maximum stiffness and thermal stability during continuous operation. Movement along the axes is driven by a high-precision, zero-clearance rack-and-pinion system in the X and Y directions, allowing for impressive, rapid, and machining feed rates of up to 30 m-min.

The machine is built to handle massive workpieces with X-axis travels starting at 7,500 mm and Y-axis options extending up to 7,000 mm. Power is delivered by a main spindle motor providing 40 kW of drive power and a maximum torque of 1,200 Nm. The Megamill is highly versatile, supporting both mechanical milling heads and heads with an electrospindle, all with infinitely variable and simultaneous positioning. Productivity is further enhanced by an automatic head changer and integrated tool-changing systems. Control is managed by a choice of either the advanced Siemens 840D SL or the shop floor-friendly Heidenhain TNC 640 HSCI.
