The SB216 is a robust Double Column Bridge Machining Center from the SB Series, engineered to deliver exceptional power and endurance for heavy jobs while maintaining strict dimensional accuracy. This fixed rail bridge machine is designed to handle challenging materials, including ferrous, non-ferrous, and high-temperature alloys, with precision and speed.

Its foundation includes a work surface measuring 78-7 inches by 59 inches (2,000 mm x 1,500 mm), supporting a substantial maximum table load of 17,600 lbs (8,000 kg). The machining envelope provides generous travel distances: 83-5 inches (X-axis), 63 inches (Y-axis), and a standard 31-5 inches (Z-axis) with an optional Z-axis travel of 39-4 inches. The standard model features roller guides and a hydraulic counterbalance system on the headstock to ensure highly precise and accurate cuts even during heavy load operations. All axes boast quick movement with a maximum rapid feed rate of 945 inches per minute (24 m-min).

The spindle system is highly adaptable to material requirements, offering a CAT50 geared head with 6,000 RPM for high-torque applications in steel (delivering up to 1,115 ft-lb of torque at 5,000 RPM) or high-speed direct drive options up to 20,000 RPM with an HSK63 taper for non-ferrous machining. The optional SB216YM model significantly enhances versatility by offering extended Y-axis travel (90-5 inches) and five-face machining capabilities. This feature allows for the machining of complex workpieces without frequent repositioning and supports optional headstock attachments- including 30 degree, 90 degree, extension, and manual universal heads– with automatic tool change and clamping. The SB216 guarantees exceptional quality with a linear position accuracy of plus-minus 0-0004 inches and a linear repeatability of plus-minus 0-0001 inches.
