Its robust construction utilizes roller guides and a hydraulic counterbalance system on the headstock to ensure stability and precision, resulting in highly accurate cuts without sacrificing processing speed.

The machine’s large work envelope is defined by a table size of 118 inches x 59 inches (3,000 mm x 1,500 mm) and a formidable 22,000 lb maximum table load (10,000 kg). Travel dimensions include 120-5 inches of X-axis travel (3,060 mm), 63 inches of Y-axis travel (1,600 mm), and 31-5 inches of Z-axis travel (800 mm), with an optional Z-axis extension available.

The SB316 is highly versatile, offering multiple spindle configurations for optimal performance across various materials- ferrous, non-ferrous, and high-temp alloys. For heavy material removal, a CAT50 geared spindle is available, delivering up to 1,115 ft-lb of torque at 5,000 RPM. High-speed machining needs can be met with options up to a 20,000 RPM spindle. All axes feature impressive rapid feed rates of 945 inches per minute (24 m/min). Precision is a hallmark of this machine, offering a Linear Position Accuracy of plus-minus 0-0004 inches (0-01 mm) and a linear repeatability of plus-minus 0-0001 inches (0-003 mm).

The optional SB316YM model enhances capability with extended Y-axis travel (up to 90-5 inches) and advanced 5-face machining capabilities utilizing automatic clamping and automatic tool changes in both vertical and horizontal orientations.
