The TERA 50VT is a versatile and high-precision Vertical Trunnion Machine engineered by MICRO DYNAMICS to tackle complex, multi-sided machining tasks efficiently. It operates as a 4+1-axis machine, with an optional upgrade available for 5-axis simultaneous machining. The machine’s foundation is built on FC300 Meehanite® casting and an optimized rib structure using FEA analysis, ensuring maximum stability and vibration damping during heavy cutting.

Key to its precision is the integrated trunnion table, which utilizes a high-quality, Japanese-made Roller Gear Cam Mechanism instead of a traditional worm gear. This advanced system delivers enhanced rigidity, repeatability, and zero-backlash performance for the A (Tilting) and C (Rotary) axes, with a tilting range of 40º to 120º. The work area is highly flexible, functioning as a 720 mm x 400 mm (28.3″ x 15.7″) work table or accommodating three vises for sequential operations, enabling the complete machining of up to six faces in one cycle.

Power is supplied by a 40 Taper built-in spindle that achieves 15,000 rpm and 41 hp, supported by a high-speed Automatic Tool Changer (ATC) with a blistering 1.2-second tool-to-tool change time. With travel dimensions of 38″ X 28″ x 19.7″ (X/Y/Z}) and rapid feed rates up to 1,889 ipm, the TERA 50VT significantly reduces non-cutting time. Furthermore, the inclusion of DYPEC® Dynamic Predictive Error Compensation ensures position accuracy by correcting thermal distortion in real-time.
