Its design focuses on industry-leading high-precision performance optimized across speed, rigidity, and reliability. The machine is equipped with a powerful 15,000 RPM spindle that delivers 50 HP (37 kW) and up to 390 ft-lbs (530 Nm) of torque, utilizing a CAT50 taper for maximum cutting stability across all material types, including ferrous metals, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys like Titanium and Inconel.

Key to the machine’s efficiency is its motion control, featuring rapid feed rates up to 2,362 ipm (60 m/min) on the X, Y, and Z axes. The direct-drive B-axis table achieves a blisteringly fast 90-degree index time of only 0.7 seconds, significantly reducing non-cutting time. The machining capacity includes a $550$ mm $\times$ $550$ mm ($21.65 \times 21.65$ in) pallet that can handle a maximum load of 2,200 lb (1,000 kg) and accommodate workpieces with a maximum swing diameter of $900$ mm ($35.40$ in). The FH5500SX-i comes standard with a 60-tool Automatic Tool Changer (ATC) capacity, with options to expand to $120$, $240$, or even $330$ tools, making it an ideal platform for automated, continuous production.
