The LS-1100 L40 is a key model within the LS Series of Superduty Horizontal Boxway Lathes from JTEKT Takisawa Taiwan- purpose-built for the challenging machining of extra-long and large diameter workpieces. The machine’s foundation utilizes extra heavy-duty box guideways and a fine-ground precision gearbox, ensuring the high rigidity and dampening necessary to maintain tight tolerances and superior surface finishes during high-torque turning operations.

Its impressive capacity includes a maximum turning diameter of 35.4 inches (900 mm) and a substantial Z-axis travel of 179 inches (4,550 mm)– translating to a maximum turning length of 175.7 inches. The main spindle is driven by a powerful 60 HP (45 kW) motor (30 min. rating) and features a large 32-inch (813 mm) chuck with a 10-inch (254 mm) bar capacity- reaching a spindle speed of 900 RPM. The robust design and power specifications allow the LS-1100 L40 to efficiently process a full range of materials- including challenging materials like high-temp alloys (Titanium and Stainless Steel), ferrous, and non-ferrous metals.
