The Sharp 1340VS Precision Lathe is designed for simple, easy, and accurate light-duty machining operations, making it an ideal machine for schools, training facilities, and home machine shops. This manual lathe offers a 13-inch swing over the bed and 40 inches between centers. It is powered by a 3 HP motor and features a Digital Variable Speed system, allowing the operator to easily adjust the spindle speed anywhere from 40 to 2000 RPM using a simple dial instead of shifting multiple levers. The headstock provides high and low gear selections to ensure higher torque for heavier cutting when needed. Key features include a D1-4 camlock spindle with a 156 inch bore, hardened and ground chrome-moly gears, and a gap bed that can increase the swing to 19 inches for short, large-diameter workpieces near the headstock. The cross slide movement is conveniently controlled by a push-pull knob located at the apron, and the cross slide’s top surface is hardened and ground for enhanced longevity. The machine is wired for 220V and can accept a single-phase power supply with the appropriate motor.
