The Sharp 1440F is an economical and easy to operate precision lathe offering the robust features of a larger engine lathe in a compact size. It is powered by a 3 HP motor and features a geared headstock with 16 spindle speeds ranging from 45 to 1800 RPM. The machine has a 14 inch swing over the bed and a 40 inch distance between centers. The spindle uses a D1-4 camlock mount and has a 15 inch bore. The gearbox contains high quality chrome moly gears mounted on tapered roller bearings and uses a forced lubrication system for long term performance. A crucial feature is the gap bed which can increase the swing capacity to 20 inches allowing for larger diameter workpieces near the headstock. All sliding surfaces like the top of the cross slide are hardened and ground for durability and scratch resistance. The 1440F is an ideal machine for training environments small workshops and general repair facilities.
