The Sharp 1640LV is a high-precision engine lathe engineered for heavy-duty turning and accuracy. A key feature is its one-piece Meehanite casting machine bed, which provides superior vibration dampening and ensures the permanent straightness of the bed ways. The machine offers a 16-inch swing over the bed and a standard 40-inch distance between centers. It boasts an industry-leading 3-18 inch spindle bore for a 16 inch lathe, allowing for the easy machining of large diameter materials, such as 3-inch oil pipes. The headstock is equipped with a 7-5 HP motor and a D1-8 camlock spindle nose. Spindle speeds are digitally variable and range from 20 to 2,000 RPM across high and low gear settings for versatile operations. All headstock gears are hardened and ground from Chrome-Moly material for long-lasting power and accuracy. The lathe also features a removable gap that increases the swing capacity to over 24 inches for short, large-diameter workpieces, as well as a direct selection for both inch and metric threading.
