The Sharp 1660LV is a precision geared head lathe designed for heavy-duty and high-accuracy turning operations. A standout feature is its 306-inch spindle bore, which is uniquely large for a 16-inch swing lathe- allowing for the machining of materials like most 3-inch diameter oil pipes. The machine is built on a single-piece Meehanite casting bed instead of separate legs, ensuring permanent straightness of the bed ways and excellent vibration dampening during heavy cutting. It offers a 16-inch swing over the bed and a 60-inch distance between centers. The spindle is driven by a powerful 75 HP motor and uses a D1-8 camlock nose. The Digital Variable Speed headstock operates in two ranges: Hi 235-2000 rpm and Low 20-170 rpm, allowing operators to easily select the ideal speed by simply turning a knob. All headstock gears are hardened and ground from Chrome-Moly material for long-lasting power and accuracy. High-precision angular contact bearings support the front of the spindle for high accuracy, even under heavy cutting conditions. The lathe provides a wide range of inch and metric threads with direct selection and includes a removable gap to increase the swing to 2438 inches for large diameter short-length workpieces.
