The Sharp KMA-3H is a versatile Bed Type Vertical Horizontal Milling Machine built for heavy cutting and large workpieces. It features a massive 1968-inch by 8662-inch table with 59 inches of longitudinal travel standard and an optional 79 inches. The machine integrates two separate, powerful machining heads. The vertical head boasts a 20 HP motor and a fixed quill #50 taper spindle capable of a full 275 inches of head travel for deep drilling and boring operations. The horizontal head is driven by a 75 HP motor and features an NT #50 taper spindle with 12 speeds from 40 to 1450 RPM. The horizontal head travels up and down along the column on a precision ballscrew driven by an AC servo motor for high accuracy. This combined setup allows for various milling operations, including five-sided machining in one setup, significantly boosting productivity. The KMA-3H is constructed with fully ribbed stress-relieved castings and hardened and ground box ways to ensure a rigid, stable structure under heavy loads. It also features a double nut backlash eliminator for lasting precision and an eye-level tri lever handle for easy vertical head positioning.
