The KMA-1 is a highly rigid Vertical Bed Mill designed for milling large workpieces and performing heavy cutting on hard metals. Its structure is built with fully ribbed and stress-relieved castings featuring hardened and ground box ways and hand-scraped sliding surfaces for precision and durability. Unlike a knee mill, the quill is fixed, allowing the machine to withstand strong lateral forces during deep drilling and boring operations while the entire geared vertical head travels a full 1968 inches vertically. It is equipped with a massive 15-inch by 67-inch table with a longitudinal travel of 3937 inches. The vertical spindle is a powerful 10 HP NT-50 taper geared head offering a speed range of 45 to 1500 RPM for aggressive material removal. For easy operation, the vertical head has an eye-level tri-lever handle for smooth manual movement and rapid traverse for quick positioning. Precision is maintained with a double nut backlash eliminator for the feed screws. The KMA-1 has an approximate weight of 8800 pounds, ensuring maximum stability.
