The KMA-3 is a robust vertical bed type milling machine designed for challenging milling operations, including heavy cutting on large or hard metal components. Its construction utilizes high-quality stress-relieved castings with fully ribbed columns and honeycombed ribbing for enhanced rigidity. The machine features an impressive 20-inch by 87-inch table with travels of 59 inches longitudinally and 2362 inches crosswise. The spindle is powered by a commanding 20 HP motor through a geared vertical head providing a speed range of 45 to 1500 RPM and utilizing a rugged NT 50 taper. Unlike knee mills, the fixed quill design allows the head to withstand strong lateral forces while the entire vertical head provides a generous 2756 inches of travel for deep drilling and boring. Movement is supported by hardened and ground box ways, and features like pneumatic locks on the spindle table and saddle ensure stability during cuts. Operators can easily position the heavy vertical head with the eye-level tri-lever handle. Precision is maintained with a double nut backlash eliminator on the feed screw.
