The UH-3-SMD is a heavy-duty Universal Horizontal Knee Mill built with hardened and ground box ways for maximum rigidity and precision during heavy cutting operations. The machine’s key feature is its universal table, which can swivel 45 degrees in either direction, allowing for angular milling gear cutting and spline production. The work table measures 1181 inches x 5393 inches with substantial travel of 3937 inches longitudinally and 1574 inches cross-travel. It is powered by a 75 HP motor driving an NST 50 taper horizontal spindle with 12 speeds ranging from 80 to 1200 RPM. A separate 1 HP built-in motor drives the feeds and rapids of the table saddle and knee, ensuring fast positioning and consistent feed rates. Standard features include an electromagnetic spindle brake, a built-in coolant system, and a pressurized automatic lubrication system for all sliding ways. This versatile mill is particularly useful for squaring edges of large plate material and drilling the ends and edges of large parts that cannot be easily set up on a vertical mill.
