The Sharp LMV-50 is a high-performance vertical knee milling machine known for its superior build quality and precision features. The machine has a 9-inch x 50-inch table with generous travel of 37 inches in the X-axis and 12 inches in the Y-axis. It is powered by a 3 HP motor that drives an R-8 spindle with infinitely variable speeds from 60 to 4500 RPM. A central feature is the quill, which is CNC ground to a mirror finish and hard chromed, resulting in near jig bore accuracy with a runout of no more than 0002 inches TIR. For long-term durability, the LMV-50 includes hardened and ground ways for all three axes with Turcite B coating on the X and Y gibs to improve oil retention and wear resistance. The patented Knuckle Head design uses a six-bolt locking system for secure head positioning and better performance than traditional designs. Additional features include a double nut backlash eliminator for precise feed screw control and an integrated one-shot lubrication system for easy maintenance.
