The MG640 is a universal machine belonging to the MG Series of Moving Gantry Mills, purpose-built for the most demanding, heavy-duty applications that still require tight dimensional tolerances. Its moving gantry configuration allows for stationary workpieces, providing the highest stability for massive, ultra-heavy parts.

The machine’s table surface measures an extensive 236-2 inches x 149-6 inches (6,000 mm x 3,800 mm), handling a uniform maximum load of 1,680 lbs per square foot (2,500 kg per square meter). The travel envelope is exceptional, with a 236-2 inch X-axis travel and a generous 157-5 inch Y-axis travel (4,000 mm). The Z-axis features a standard 39-4 inch travel (1,000 mm), with optional extensions up to 55-2 inches.

To achieve both rapid movement and high accuracy over these long travels, the MG640 utilizes roller guides for speed and responsiveness, combined with twin linear scales for precise positioning. Spindle options cater to diverse needs, ranging from a powerful high-torque 5,000 RPM geared-head delivering up to 1,115 ft-lb of torque for heavy ferrous cuts, to high-speed spindles up to 20,000 RPM for non-ferrous materials. The machine’s capability is enhanced by an optional array of heads, enabling comprehensive five-face machining of complex components. Positioning accuracy is maintained at a high standard, with plus-minus 0-001 inch on the X and Y axes and superior repeatability.
