The Acer e-Lathe 1780G is a next-generation high-speed precision engine lathe that combines the durability of a traditional geared-head machine with the flexibility of modern electronic variable speed technology. This e-Lathe is built with a hardened and ground Meehanite casting bedway for superior rigidity and lasting accuracy. Its capacity includes a 17-inch swing over the bed, a 26-inch swing in the gap, and a generous 80-inch distance between centers.

The lathe’s main feature is its advanced electronic variable speed system. It utilizes a powerful 7-5 HP spindle motor and a 10 HP Toshiba vector AC frequency drive to deliver infinite spindle speeds from a low of 25 RPM up to a high of 2200 RPM, all within three optimized gear ranges. Speed changes are fast and easy, taking only about four seconds, with no gear changer to break down, minimizing maintenance and downtime costs. The system also enables constant surface speed (optional) and is highly energy efficient, saving up to 35 percent on energy costs. The spindle features a 2-1/4 inch bore and a D1-6 camlock nose. Threading versatility is provided via an all-purpose gearbox with no change gears needed for 22 kinds of metric pitch threads and 36 kinds of inch threads, along with Module and Diametral Pitch capabilities. Safety and precision are enhanced by the electronic and mechanical brake for fast spindle stops, essential for internal threading operations.
