The machine’s core stability comes from its immense 7,650-pound base, constructed of FC-30 casting iron that is fully stress-relieved to ensure superior rigidity and prevent distortion. For long-lasting accuracy and superior wear resistance, the bedways are induction hardened and precision ground to a toughness of Rockwell C 55 degrees. The headstock is powered by a drip-proof 15 HP spindle motor offering 12 speed steps across a versatile range from a low 25 RPM up to a high 1,200 RPM.

High-efficiency starting and reversing are managed by magnetic multiple-disc clutches, while spindle control is rapid and safe with a magnetic disc brake activated by a foot pedal. For heavy cutting stability, the carriage features a saddle-lock device and benefits from an Electro-trochoid pump that forces lubrication oil to all critical running parts outside of the headstock.

Operators benefit from convenience features like rapid four-directional travel, a handwheel with direct inch-metric reading micro-collar, a safety-clutched longitudinal lead screw with a 4 TPI and oil-bathed design, and a multi-position length stop.
