The Sharp 4060M is a high-performance, large-swing manual lathe from the M24-40 Series, specifically designed to handle massive and lengthy workpieces, making it ideal for large pipe work, oil field applications, and big valve turning. Its foundation is a massive one-piece casting machine base that is fully ribbed to prevent distortion under the heaviest cutting loads. The oversized 24-inch wide bedways are induction hardened and ground for maximum lifespan and precision, further supported by an additional third bed way to give the carriage extra stability during heavy cuts.

Power is supplied by a robust 30 HP spindle motor (with larger HP options available), driving a headstock with three-point spindle support—one ball bearing and two tapered roller bearings—to ensure high accuracy and stability under load. The lathe’s signature feature is its hollow spindle, which comes standard with a 6-inch bore, with options available up to 15 inches for machining large-diameter pipe and bar stock. The machine also features a fully enclosed, quick-change gearbox allowing for easy threading across a wide range of standard Inch, Metric, Modular Pitch (M.P), and Diametral Pitch (D.P) threads without changing gears. Optional double chucks are available for securing extra-long parts, and the tailstock is equipped with a two-step quill feed for ease of use.
