The Sharp 7080M is an extra-large capacity manual lathe in the M32-70 Series, specifically designed to process the heaviest, longest, and largest diameter workpieces, such as those found in oil field pipe works and large valve manufacturing. The machine’s unparalleled rigidity comes from its foundation massive one-piece casting machine base that is fully ribbed to withstand severe cutting conditions and prevent any distortion. The bedways are 32 inches wide, induction hardened, and precision ground for long-lasting accuracy, further reinforced by an additional third bed way that provides extra support to the carriage during heavy cuts.

The headstock is powered by a standard 30 HP spindle motor (with larger options available) and is designed with three-point bearing support, one ball bearing, and two tapered roller bearings, ensuring the full length of the spindle shaft maintains high stability and precision. The spindle offers an exceptional 6-inch bore standard, with large-bore options available up to 15 inches. Operators have access to 16 distinct spindle speed steps, ranging from 4 to 420 RPM, offering the necessary torque for heavy stock removal and the speed for finish machining. The fully enclosed quick-change gearbox simplifies operation by providing an easy change for a full range of Inch, Metric, Modular Pitch (M.P), and Diametral Pitch (D.P) threads. Optional double chucks can be mounted to secure extra-long workpieces, and the machine includes a heavy-duty tailstock for stable operation.
