The Sharp 2260B Heavy Duty Lathe is engineered to handle substantial machining tasks with exceptional power and precision. The machine’s foundation is a 16-inch wide, one-piece Meehanite cast bed, which eliminates vibration and ensures permanent bed way straightness. The 4-5 inch spindle bore is one of the largest available for this class of lathe, providing versatility for various material diameters. It features a robust D1-11 camlock spindle nose driven by a 15 HP motor. The geared headstock offers 12 speeds ranging from a powerful low of 10 RPM for heavy cutting torque up to 1,000 RPM. All headstock gears are hardened and ground Chrome-Moly steel for long-lasting accuracy and power transmission. The carriage is coated with TURCITE for superior oil retention and minimal wear on the bed ways. For increased capacity on short, large-diameter workpieces, a removable gap can increase the swing to 31 inches. This model- with its 60-inch center distance– is ideal for demanding industrial and oil country applications, offering a wide range of feeds and direct selection for inch-metric threading.
