The Sharp 24160V is a robust and highly capable geared-head lathe from the 24-V-Series, designed to handle large, heavy, and long turning operations with precision. The machine’s foundation is a massive, one-piece Meehanite cast bed with a 19-inch width, which ensures superior rigidity, dampens vibration effectively, and maintains the permanent straightness of the bed ways. Power is supplied by a reliable 15 HP motor, which drives the spindle through 18 speeds ranging from 10 to 1,200 RPM. The spindle drive features a clutch-type geared head for fast and easy speed changes.

Key features include a large 4-125-inch spindle bore and a D1-11 Camlock spindle nose, providing ample capacity for big diameter stock. The headstock contains hardened and ground Chrome-Moly gears and high-precision matched angular contact bearings to support the spindle under heavy cutting. This lathe provides an extensive threading capacity, covering both coarse and fine threads from 1-4 TPI up to 84 TPI in its direct selection quick-change gearbox. Additionally, the machine features a removable gap to increase the swing to 33 inches for oversized parts and comes standard with a coolant system, a longitudinal carriage stop, and a steady rest with roller jaws.
