The Sharp 2480V Heavy Duty Lathe is engineered for precision and performance in large-scale turning operations, featuring a long bed that accommodates parts up to 80 inches between centers (with optional models up to 160 inches). The machine is anchored by a solid one-piece casting bed that is 19 inches wide, providing superior rigidity and stability that is crucial for heavy cutting and maintaining accuracy. At the heart of the machine is a high-capacity headstock featuring a generous 4-125 inch spindle bore and a D1-11 Camlock spindle nose. The headstock is driven by a robust 15 HP motor through a clutch-type gearbox, offering an incredible 18 spindle speeds across the 10 to 1,200 RPM range, which allows for optimal speed selection for any material or operation.

The 2480V excels in thread cutting, offering a wide range of threads, including inch threads from 1/4 TPI to 84 TPI, as well as metric, modular, and diametral pitch threading. The headstock utilizes hardened and ground Chrome-Moly gears and high-precision angular contact bearings to ensure long-lasting power and accuracy. The lathe also features a removable gap that expands the swing to 33 inches for occasional, large-diameter work. Practical features include a jog button for easy gear engagement, push-button lubrication for the carriage and cross slide ways, and a two-speed quill for the MT #5 tailstock.
