The Sharp 26120B Heavy Duty Lathe is a robust manual engine lathe from the 26-B-Series, engineered for exceptional stability and enduring accuracy in high-capacity turning operations. Its foundational strength comes from a one-piece Meehanite cast bed, which is 16 inches wide and acts to dampen vibration, ensuring the permanent straightness of the bed ways. The machine’s large capacity is defined by its substantial 4-5 inch spindle bore and a D1-11 Camlock spindle nose, driven by a powerful 15 HP motor. The headstock offers 12 spindle speeds across a range of 10 to 1,000 RPM, with the exceptionally low 10 RPM speed designed to deliver the immense torque required for the heaviest cutting tasks. For dimensional stability and long-term accuracy, all headstock gears are crafted from hardened and ground Chrome-Moly material. The carriage sliding surfaces are coated with TURCITE to minimize bed wear and enhance oil retention. The lathe can accommodate short, large-diameter workpieces by utilizing its removable gap, which increases the swing over the bed to 35 inches.
