The Sharp 26160B is an exceptionally powerful manual engine lathe engineered for the heaviest and longest turning applications. It provides a massive 26-inch swing over the bed and can accommodate workpieces up to 160 inches between centers. Constructed with a solid one-piece Meehanite cast bed that is 16 inches wide, this lathe ensures superior rigidity, minimal vibration, and permanent straightness of the bed ways. Power is supplied by a robust 15 HP motor, which drives the headstock across 12 selectable speeds ranging from 10 to 1,000 RPM, with the lowest speed of 10 RPM delivering maximum torque for deep, heavy cutting.

The headstock is designed for strength and longevity, featuring a large 4-5 inch spindle bore and a D1-11 Camlock spindle nose. All headstock gears are made from hardened and ground Chrome-Moly material, and the spindle is supported by high-precision tapered roller bearings for sustained accuracy under load. The carriage ways are coated with TURCITE to reduce friction and minimize bed wear. Furthermore, the lathe includes a removable gap section, increasing the maximum swing to an impressive 35 inches for machining large diameter-short length components. It features a quick-change gearbox with a wide range of threads, including direct selection for both inch and metric threads.
