The Sharp 2640B Heavy Duty Lathe is a ruggedly built machine from the B-Series, constructed specifically for machining large and heavy workpieces. The foundation is a wide 16-inch one-piece Meehanite cast bed, which provides exceptional vibration dampening and ensures long-term accuracy and straightness of the bed ways. The powerful 15 HP motor is paired with a geared headstock offering 12 spindle speeds, ranging from 40 to 1,000 RPM. For maximum durability and precision, all headstock gears are made from hardened and ground Chrome-Moly material.

This lathe is equipped with a substantial 4-5 inch spindle bore and a D1-11 Camlock spindle nose, giving it excellent capacity for oversized stock. The carriage features TURCITE-coated sliding surfaces to minimize bed wear and improve oil retention, ensuring a long service life. The design includes a removable gap that expands the swing over the bed to 35 inches for short, large-diameter parts. The machine provides a wide range of threads (inch, metric, modular, and diametral pitch) via a quick-change gearbox with direct selection, making the 2640B a versatile and reliable choice for heavy industrial applications.
