The Sharp 2680B Heavy Duty Lathe is engineered for high-precision, large-capacity machining, built with a heavy-duty one-piece Meehanite cast bed that is 16 inches wide. This solid foundation ensures superior stability and vibration dampening during intense operations. The headstock features a large 4-5 inch spindle bore and a D1-11 Camlock nose, ideal for handling massive workpieces. The machine’s 15 HP motor and geared head provide 12 spindle speeds from 10 to 1-000 RPM, with the low-end speed of 10 RPM delivering ample torque for the heaviest cuts. Durability is a priority- all headstock gears are made from hardened and ground Chrome-Moly material, ensuring long-lasting accuracy and power. The carriage is coated with TURCITE to reduce bed wear and improve oil retention. For short but large-diameter parts, a removable gap allows the swing to increase up to 35 inches. The machine also offers a quick-change gearbox for direct selection of a wide range of inch and metric threads.
