The Sharp 30100B Heavy Duty Lathe is a robust engine lathe from the 30-B-Series, engineered for exceptional stability and power in machining large, heavy workpieces. The foundation of the machine is a one-piece Meehanite cast bed with a generous 15-75 inch width, providing superior rigidity, vibration dampening, and ensuring the permanent straightness of the bed ways. Power is supplied by a 15 HP motor, which drives the spindle through 12 speeds ranging from 10 to 1,000 RPM, with the exceptionally low 10 RPM speed delivering optimal torque for the most aggressive cutting. The headstock features a 4-5 inch spindle bore and a D1-11 Camlock spindle nose, giving it ample capacity for large diameter materials. All headstock gears are made from hardened and ground Chrome-Moly material for long-lasting accuracy and power transmission. The carriage is coated with TURCITE to minimize wear and improve oil retention. This lathe can handle pieces up to 100 inches long and includes a removable gap to increase the swing to 39 inches for processing large-diameter, short-length jobs.
