The Sharp 30160B is a manual engine lathe designed for the most challenging, high-capacity industrial turning applications. It is engineered with a focus on stability and durability, featuring a one-piece Meehanite cast bed with a 15-75 inch width to eliminate vibration and ensure the permanent straightness of the bed ways. The machine’s headstock is powered by a 15 HP motor and provides 12 geared speeds, with a range of 10 to 1,000 RPM. This range includes a low speed of 10 RPM, which is critical for generating the maximum torque required for heavy cuts on large diameter materials.

For maximum longevity and precision, all headstock gears are made from hardened and ground Chrome-Moly steel, and the spindle is supported by high-precision tapered roller bearings. The lathe’s notable 4-5 inch spindle bore and D1-11 Camlock spindle nose offer exceptional capacity for large stock. The carriage ways are coated with TURCITE to reduce friction and minimize wear. For oversized parts, the lathe features a removable gap that increases the swing capacity to 39 inches. With its ability to handle workpieces up to 160 inches long, the 30160B is an ideal machine for oil fields, power utilities, and general heavy-duty manufacturing.
