The Sharp 3080B Heavy Duty Lathe from the 30-B-Series is engineered for strength and precision on demanding large workpiece applications. Its foundation is a massive, one-piece Meehanite cast bed with a 15-75 inch wide bed, which is crucial for absorbing vibration and maintaining permanent bed way straightness. The headstock features a D1-11 Camlock spindle nose and a 4-5 inch spindle bore, providing superior capacity for large diameter materials. Driven by a 15 HP motor, the spindle delivers power through 12 speeds ranging from 10 to 1,000 RPM. The low-end speed of 10 RPM ensures ample torque for heavy cutting. All headstock gears are made from hardened and ground Chrome-Moly material for long-lasting accuracy. The carriage ways are coated with TURCITE for reduced friction and longer life. A removable gap increases the swing to 39 inches to accommodate oversized parts, making the 3080B an extremely versatile and reliable machine for heavy industrial use.
